Material Services
Volunteers sorting and distributing food.
The goods we provide serve not only as
short-term relief but also as motivators.

National Relief Charities (NRC) commits over 5 million pounds of new, quality products that are needed on the reservations to help meet basic human needs

The products relate to nutrition, healthcare, holiday, and education. We also provide material services related to emergency and community support such as home improvement, winter fuel, weatherization, disaster relief, and animal-related health risk.

In the communities we serve, the norm is high unemployment, high poverty levels, a lack of retail access, and a lack of transportation.

Our material aid impacts quality of life for Native Americans living on 75 reservations where:

  • 3 to 8 out of 10 people are looking for work
  • 1 out of 4 people are living with food insecurity
  • 1 out of 4 children are living below poverty level
  • 3 to 7 out of 10 students are dropping out of high school
  • 1 to 2 out of 10 Native Americans are homeless

NRC extends a year-round offering of resources that Program Partners need to further their program goals and better serve their communities. Thus, the goods we provide serve not only as short-term relief but also as motivators. When used as incentives, our Program Partners are able to increase participation in education classes, health screenings, and other forms of community and social involvement for thousands of people.

Many of our partners report improved services and increased participation as a result of partnering with NRC.
