“Area Nonprofits Meeting the Needs of Weather’s Most Vulnerable ”

Dialysis patients evacuated from Cheyenne River Reservation.

Jan 25, 2010, Rapid City, SD (PR.com) —Forty-one (41) dialysis patients from the Eagle Butte (Cheyenne River Reservation) were evacuated to Rapid City due to the continued power outages facing the region. The patients are currently receiving treatment here in Rapid City and in Pine Ridge. Because of the quick departure based on the impending storm, the patients are without many basic needs.

A coordinated effort between the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, National Relief Charities, and the Western South Dakota CAP office are working to meet the needs, which include clothing, food, personal hygiene items, and equipment for people with disabilities.

Currently, the patients are staying at the Travelodge Motel.
